Arnulf Rainer - Self Portraits, 1969-1970

These double as a pretty accurate representation of me right now, revising for finals and hysterically trying not to freak myself out. Thanks for the pictures, tumblr, I really can’t take any more words right now.

Ashkan Honarvar - Faces, 2009 - pen on photograph

“Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. It occurs in places you least expect, revealing its art in the human body, but also cruelly absent in the presence of deformation and scars. Honarvar depicts an undeniable, unavoidable beauty by accepting the darker sides of human nature.”

—Perfume Genius - Learning

Saw Perfume Genius live last night. It was so magical and emotional and I was completely blown away (not only by his music but also just by how genuinely lovely he acted on stage and by how amazingly well dressed he was (oh god, that hair and nail polish)).

I just think that fiction that isn’t exploring what it means to be human today isn’t art.
